Nice N Easy Color Blend Foam Commercial

There is one side effect to getting older that I really don't appreciate – gray hair! Or in my case it's more so silver and white. I almost wish I had gray hair.

I started to get gray/silver/white (hard to tell) hair when I was in my early 20's. I'm 42 now. If I let my hair go I would have had hair like Paula Deen about a decade or so ago.

Someday I'll let my hair go and turn whatever color it wants to be but I was hoping to hold off doing that until I was in my 60's or 70's. Certainly not now.

I color my own hair. Many people I know personally think I'm nuts to do my own hair but for me it's very cost effective. Simply put I cannot afford $100+ every 4-6 weeks to color my hair. Especially when I can do it in the comfort of my own home, without making an appointment, for $10 or less. I also don't have the inconvenience of having to drive to/from the hair salon and wait around for the color to sink in. I can do it quickly and easily and home and get on with my life and do things while I am waiting for the color to take. In that 30 minutes or so it takes to let the color do it's magic I can clean the living room, return a few phone calls or even write a blog post. At the salon I just sit around reading out dated magazines.

I bounce around with the hair colorings that I choose. Honestly I try and go for whatever is on sale. I also change my color around a lot. In the Fall/Winter I tend to go for Dark Auburn. In the Spring/Summer I go for a Light Auburn. Every now and then I try something totally new like Chocolate Brown or a light Strawberry Blonde.

Nice N' Easy is one of the brands that I use frequently. It's usually the most affordable brand, even when it's not on sale. I also have no problems with it as far as bothering my scalp (I break out with Eczema on my scalp sometimes) and I am always pleased with the end results.

One things I really dislike about coloring my own hair is the solution getting all over the place. I have hair coloring stains on the grout on our bathroom floor, on the counter top and even on the wall. I'm always careful but sometimes that runny solution ends up in places other then my head.

I also hate when it starts to drip down your face or back. It can really be very messy to color your hair at home.

A new wave of hair coloring is making coloring your own hair much easier – and neater – then ever before. It's hair coloring foam.

Clairol's Nice N' Easy has their own line of Color Blended Foam hair coloring. I recently gave it a try to see how well it worked.

The new Color Blended Foam is available in a variety of colors including Light Auburn which is my color of choice this time of the year.

Inside the box you'll find instructions, gloves, the foam bottle with solution in it, the color solution, lid for the foam bottle and two packages of conditioners – one for when you color your hair and one to use about a week or so later.

Setting up the color foam was quick and easy. All I had to do was remove the lids from both bottles, pour the color solution into the foam bottle, replace the lid on the foam bottle, shake it up a bit, then replace the lid with the foam lid. That's it! From start to finish probably took me a minute or two.

The instructions are easy. Simply add the color to your hair as if you were washing your hair, wait 30-40 minutes (depending on the amount of gray your hair has), rinse well, add conditioner, rinse again and you are done. In less then an hour you can have beautiful natural color hair.

I know this might sound trivial but I really liked the gloves. They were actually a lot more roomy then other gloves I've used that are so tight they stop circulation in your hands. They were also made well and didn't tear. They are a better quality then other gloves that come in hair coloring packages.

The foam bottle lid makes it appear like it's a pump bottle, but it's not. To advance the foam into your hand you need to squeeze the bottle. It took me a bit to get used to that. I kept wanting to push down on the lid to get the foam.

I was a bit concerned about the color that came out. Since I have colored my hair Light Auburn before I knew what to expect. The color of the Color Blended Foam was more orange then I am used to. It was more like a burnt orange color.

The coloring has a very strong scent when you are applying it. After you are done and it color starts to dry a bit in your hair the scent changes from something really strong to a lighter scent. It sort of reminded me of some kind of a bath and body spray scent, although I can't pinpoint which one it reminded me of. I guess you can say it has sort of a weird fruity scent.

The color rinsed out as well as regular Clairol Nice N' Easy hair coloring. I love the conditioner. The conditioner that comes with hair coloring is always better then the bottled kind you find on the store shelves.

Overall the color turned out very nice and it was able to cover almost all of my gray/silver/white hair except for a few strands I missed around my ears.

I enjoy using the foam so much more then traditional hair coloring because it's A LOT less messy and it doesn't drip on to your clothing. I also think that you have a lot more control with foam then you do with regular hair coloring.

The only downside is that the foam could be a bit more "foamy". I wish it had the consistency of shaving cream (or close to it). The Color Blend Foam IS foam, but it's a more liquid like foam, similar to hand washing foam soap.

Over all I'd give the new Clairol Nice N' Easy Color Blend Foam hair coloring two thumbs up.
