This calendar month'southward Bespeak of Origin feature is youth punk tag-team, The Linda Lindas. The group consists of Bela Salazar, Eloise Wong, and Lucia and Mila de la Garza. Despite ranging in age from 12-xvi, Linda Linda's youthful spirit has already captured the hearts and minds of famous adults like Amy Poehler, Tom Morello, Flea, and Thurston Moore. Most recently, Sesame Street's first ever Asian American character, Ji-Young, has cited the band as her favorite new group. Not only are the Linda Lindas an inspiration and a vox for young kids of colour everywhere, just they are also the audio of all of our lost childhoods, at its most strident and innocent: a dipped madeleine to our forgotten memories, when all our dreams were in arms attain, and the world was brilliant and new. Linda Lindas' sound is spastic and joyous, not weighed down by the pessimism and tropes of darker predecessors. The result is a buoyant, human foot-tapping, care for with substance. More than specifically, who'due south playing that lap steel? What do they await like in our collective consciousness?
